ZEISS Rolls Out Conquest Apia 65 Spotting Scope to Boost Wildlife Observation in India

Global optics manufacturer ZEISS has unveiled the Conquest Apia 65 spotting scope in India, targeting the nation's growing community of wildlife watchers, birders, and conservation professionals. The instrument represents a strategic effort to provide field-ready optical solutions suited to India's diverse ecosystems and rich biodiversity.
India's natural heritage encompasses more than 1,300 bird species and extensive wildlife habitats, making high-quality optical equipment essential for accurate field observation, species documentation, and conservation work. The new spotting scope aims to fulfil this need by delivering advanced optical capabilities suitable for challenging field conditions.
"India's biodiversity and the expanding network of birders, wildlife photographers, and conservationists create significant demand for reliable, high-performance optical tools," said Kunal Girotra, Regional Head of the Photonics and Optics Division at ZEISS India. "The Conquest Apia 65 supports this growing sector through enhanced observation precision, improved documentation capabilities, and deeper engagement with the natural world. Its combination of portability, optical quality, and user-friendly design makes it well-suited for sustained fieldwork in protected areas, biodiversity zones, and community-led conservation programmes. This launch strengthens India's capacity for wildlife observation and conservation through advanced optical technology."
The spotting scope incorporates ZEISS T* coating technology, delivering 87% light transmission and sharp edge-to-edge imaging. These features enable bright, contrast-rich visuals even in low-light situations such as dawn hours or dense forest canopies. Its magnification range spans 20x to 50x, allowing users to transition smoothly between broad landscape surveys and close-range wildlife examination.
Portability has been a key design consideration. At 299 mm in length—approximately 25% shorter than competing models—and weighing just 1.3 kg, the scope remains highly mobile. Its aluminum-magnesium frame balances durability with lightweight handling, making it practical for transport across India's varied terrain, from wetland reserves to forested regions and high-altitude zones.
Ergonomic refinement features prominently in the design approach. The focus and zoom mechanisms operate with precision and minimal effort, while the carefully positioned focus wheel maintains balanced handling and ready accessibility. This attention to comfort supports extended observation sessions without fatigue.
The device supports several accessory options to expand its utility. A control lever enables single-handed operation, while a protective case remains attached during use. A ZEISS Digiscoping Adapter facilitates smartphone integration for image and video capture. Tripod systems featuring Arca-Swiss compatibility provide additional stability for fixed observation.
The Conquest Apia 65 is available starting at INR 1,44,999 through major retailers and online marketplaces including Amazon and Flipkart.
