Hyderabad's Gachibowli Stadium hosted the Young India Sports Summit on Thursday, bringing together a cross-section of sports professionals, policymakers, and sector experts to strengthen India's sports infrastructure through coordinated efforts in policy, education, and innovation.

Organized under the aegis of the Young India Physical Education and Sports University, the gathering marked the institution's first major flagship event. Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan inaugurated the proceedings, describing the summit as a watershed moment for the university's mission. He highlighted Telangana's considerable capacity for advancing sports development across the state.

The day's discussions encompassed broad themes including national sports policy frameworks, educational pathways, research initiatives, and employment prospects within the sports sector. Participants also examined how technology and innovation can reshape athletic training and performance.

State Sports Advisor A.P. Jitender Reddy voiced optimism about the university's trajectory, suggesting it possesses the potential to achieve recognition at both national and international levels. He urged the continuation of similar institutional efforts to sustain momentum in sports development.

Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy positioned the university as a strategic instrument aligned with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's broader vision, asserting that it will play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of competitive athletes.

Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Soni Baladevi outlined the Sports Department's recent accomplishments, noting the establishment of new institutions, expansion of training academies, and promotion of grassroots-level competitions that have revitalized the sector.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Kishore Gopinathan outlined the university's commitment to adopting internationally recognized standards and practices. The institution intends to create synergies between academic learning, rigorous research, and cutting-edge technology to produce well-rounded sports professionals.

The summit's agenda included focused sessions on Telangana's sports policy direction, Olympic aspirations, sports education curricula, career pathways, sports science applications, professional leagues, esports development, and para-sports initiatives.

The event drew participation from representatives of the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust and Adapted Sports India Foundation. Distinguished attendees included celebrated coach Pullela Gopichand, Dronacharya awardees Ismail Baig and Nagapuri Ramesh, Arjuna awardee J. J. Shobha, and Olympian Neha Aggarwal.
