Telangana braces for thunderstorms as IMD issues Yellow alert across multiple districts

Telangana faces an impending spell of severe weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow alert for Monday as forecasters predict heavy to very heavy rainfall interspersed with thunderstorms and lightning across the region. Residents have been advised to exercise caution as adverse weather conditions are expected to sweep through the state.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has identified 12 districts likely to experience significant rainfall: Adilabad, Nirmal, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Suryapet, Jagtial, Mancherial, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Rangareddy, and Medak. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are anticipated at numerous locations across these areas.

Meteorological authorities have issued specific safety guidance for residents. People are being cautioned against sheltering beneath trees or positioning themselves near electrical poles during thunderstorms or when lightning strikes are observed. Officials have urged communities to relocate to protected areas until atmospheric conditions stabilize.

Across the border in Andhra Pradesh, the Amaravati Meteorological Centre has issued its own forecast indicating comprehensive rainfall distribution throughout the state. Coastal districts are expected to experience light to moderate precipitation with isolated thunderstorm activity, while Rayalaseema region is projected to receive light rainfall in scattered locations. Cloud cover is anticipated to persist across substantial portions of Andhra Pradesh.

The weather authorities have appealed to the public to remain vigilant regarding meteorological updates and adhere to protective measures recommended by local administration, particularly in regions historically vulnerable to lightning strikes and extreme downpours.
