A fire incident at the Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Station, currently under construction in Nalgonda district, resulted in damage to control cables and valves on Sunday following an oil leak in Unit-3.

The blaze originated near the pump section of the facility when lubrication oil that had escaped from equipment ignited, spreading swiftly through the turbine-driven boiler feed pump area. The resulting flames generated thick black smoke that billowed across sections of the power station.

Plant personnel and fire safety teams mobilized quickly to contain the flames, preventing the fire from reaching the main turbine and boiler systems. The control cables and several valves in the affected zone sustained extensive damage from the heat and flames.

Engineers and workers at the site experienced alarm as the fire broke out unexpectedly, though the response efforts proved effective in limiting the scope of the damage. TGGENCO officials confirmed that the primary machinery installations remained unharmed despite the severity of the incident.

No one suffered injury or loss of life in the occurrence. Senior management from the power utility inspected the site following notification of the emergency.

An internal investigation has been initiated to evaluate the full extent of damage and establish the precise circumstances that led to the fire. A comprehensive report is anticipated once the inquiry concludes.
