XLRI's Transformational Leadership Programme Attracts Seasoned Executives with Decades of Experience
XLRI Jamshedpur's Senior Executive Development Programme in Transformational Leadership is seeing strong participation from seasoned professionals, with data from eight cohorts comprising more than 300 participants revealing that a majority hold more than 22 years of work experience.
The programme's ninth batch will commence on 30 May 2026, with registrations being processed through Jaro Education, the designated enrolment partner. The initiative spans eight months and combines weekly live sessions conducted on Sundays with two in-person residential modules at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus.
Participant Profile
The programme has attracted executives across diverse sectors. Information technology represents the largest share at 32.5%, followed by automotive at 12.5%. Additional representation comes from banking and financial services, pharmaceuticals, insurance, energy and petrochemicals, telecommunications, and real estate sectors.
Participants hold senior positions including Founder & CEO, Senior Vice President, Chief Technical Architect, Head of Human Resources, and General Manager roles.
In terms of academic qualifications, 33.3% of enrollees are bachelor's degree holders, 29.4% studied engineering, 16.9% completed postgraduate studies, and 16.7% hold MBA degrees. The cohorts also include individuals with doctoral qualifications, chartered accountancy credentials, law degrees, and medical qualifications.
Programme Structure and Curriculum
The eight-month curriculum is organised around five core themes: mindful leadership covering attention and emotional regulation; leading self and others through growth mindset and transformational approaches; psychological resilience and organisational influence; cultural and ethical anchors drawing from Indian philosophical traditions; and an on-campus valedictory focused on developmental networks.
Delivery combines weekly Sunday online sessions with two residential immersion periods on campus. Participants are assessed through reflective journals, individual assignments, and peer group projects, with a mandatory 70% attendance requirement for programme certification.
Dr Manish Singhal, Professor at XLRI – Xavier School of Management, leads the programme. He holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering, a PGDM in Finance, and a doctoral fellowship from IIM Calcutta.
Institutional Context
XLRI positioned the programme to address what it identifies as a gap in executive development. While organisations increasingly require leaders capable of navigating ambiguity and managing complexity, most executive education programmes remain focused on functional and technical competencies rather than the behavioural and psychological dimensions necessary for senior leadership roles.
The curriculum integrates applied neuroscience, behavioural science, and mindfulness practices alongside conventional leadership teaching methodologies.
XLRI, established in 1949, is ranked 10th among Indian management institutions by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2025 and 83rd globally according to Financial Times rankings. The institution maintains AACSB and AMBA accreditations and reports 100% placement outcomes for its primary programmes.
