Telangana Government Pledges New Mining Operations and Employment at Singareni

Hyderabad: The Telangana government remains dedicated to establishing new mining operations and generating employment opportunities at Singareni to rebuild the corporation's former capacity, according to Labour, Employment, Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy.
During a visit on Thursday to the underground workings at the KK-5 mine in Mandamarri, the minister examined operational conditions and engaged with workers to learn about their grievances spanning employment, welfare, and day-to-day mining matters.
Employees raised concerns regarding Income Tax complications stemming from PRC arrears and appealed for state assistance in securing housing arrangements.
At the site, Vivek Venkatswamy criticized the preceding BRS administration for its inattention to Singareni, contending that no additional mines were developed under its watch despite the corporation being financially drained. He called on the workforce to prioritize coal quality while maintaining rigorous safety protocols.
The minister subsequently participated in a recognition ceremony honouring Shram Shakti Award winner Yedukola Pawan Kumar at the same mining facility.
Addressing the assembled workers and staff, Vivek Venkatswamy noted the historical ties between the Kaka family and Singareni's employees, emphasizing the need for unified endeavours to strengthen the organization. He referenced former Union Minister Kaka Venkataswamy's legacy, noting that approximately Rs 400 crore was allocated to Singareni and roughly one lakh jobs were safeguarded during that period.
The government is working to ensure Singareni's involvement in coal block tenders in alignment with central policies, the minister stated. He also disclosed that the Income Tax matter concerning PRC arrears has been escalated to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Furthermore, MP Vamsi Krishna is pursuing parliamentary action to establish a Rs 10,000 monthly pension for retired Singareni workers.
The RKP Opencast Phase-2 undertaking alone is projected to provide employment for nearly 5,000 individuals following receipt of forest approvals, Vivek Venkatswamy indicated. He additionally assured contractual workers that efforts to raise minimum compensation would proceed under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's direction.
The event was attended by Mandamarri Area General Manager N. Radhakrishna, union representatives, administrative personnel, and workforce members. Award recipients Pawan Kumar and Pulluri Laxman received formal recognition at the programme.
