Hyderabad: Film actor Vijay Deverakonda and former health minister Thanneeru Harish Rao, a senior BRS leader, toured the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care and Research in Kondapaka on Saturday, where they met with young patients receiving care for congenital heart conditions.

Speaking to those gathered at the facility, located in Siddipet district, Vijay Deverakonda commended Harish Rao's instrumental role in establishing the medical center. The actor recalled that Harish Rao had secured land for the institution during his time as Health Minister. Referring to him as the "Lion of Siddipet," Vijay Deverakonda highlighted how Harish Rao had been crucial in enabling affordable heart surgeries for economically disadvantaged children and characterized his public work as noteworthy.

The actor expressed satisfaction at being part of the specialized medical outreach program and observing firsthand the center's charitable medical efforts. He remarked that political leaders genuinely dedicated to such social causes remain uncommon.

Harish Rao noted that the facility conducts approximately 6,000 pediatric cardiac surgeries annually and extends free medical care to children across India. He urged the public to contribute to such humanitarian programs, emphasizing that charitable acts constitute a lasting personal legacy.

During their time at the center, both leaders spent time with patients and their families, acknowledging the quality of care provided by the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care and Research.
