Telangana Pushes to Accelerate Paddy and Maize Procurement Across State

Hyderabad: State officials have intensified efforts to ramp up procurement of paddy and maize across Telangana, with Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy issuing clear directives to district collectors to accelerate the operation.
During a video conference that included Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other cabinet ministers, collectors from across the state reviewed the progress of procurement activities. The minister stressed the need for swift action and called on officials to flag any obstacles they encounter without delay.
"The government stands ready to extend all necessary support to ensure smooth procurement operations," Uttam Kumar Reddy stated, assuring collectors that the administration would work to resolve any issues impeding the process.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao highlighted the scale of the procurement initiative, noting that the state government is acquiring paddy in substantial quantities under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration.
However, officials have identified a complicating factor: farmers from adjoining states have begun transporting paddy to procurement centres within Telangana, a development creating logistical challenges in certain districts. To address this, collectors have been instructed to implement preventive measures to curtail the cross-border inflow of paddy.
Officials have set an end-of-May deadline for completing the procurement operations across the state.
