Tummala Nageswara Rao Inspects Yathalakunta Tunnel Project in Khammam

Hyderabad — State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao conducted an inspection of the Yathalakunta tunnel project under construction in Sathupalli mandal of Khammam district on Monday, focusing on the technical progress and quality benchmarks of the initiative.
During his site visit, the minister examined the construction's advancement, technical specifications, and adherence to quality standards. He instructed project officials to accelerate work pace while ensuring timely completion as per the scheduled deadline.
The minister emphasised that the tunnel's completion would significantly enhance irrigation infrastructure in the surrounding region and deliver substantial advantages to the farming community. He highlighted that strengthening irrigation resources in agricultural areas formed a key component of the government's development agenda.
"The government is rolling out large-scale irrigation projects with farmers' needs as the central focus," Tummala Nageswara Rao said, underscoring the administration's commitment to agricultural development.
At the project site, the minister held a detailed review session with engineering teams. He stressed that construction quality must remain non-negotiable and cautioned officials against any compromise. The minister also reiterated the importance of ensuring that public funds are utilised efficiently without any leakage.
The minister assessed the quality of construction materials deployed for the tunnel work and encouraged officials to leverage modern technologies where applicable.
Local legislator Jare Adinarayana accompanied the minister and briefed him on irrigation needs, development priorities, and public concerns specific to the Aswaraopeta constituency. He noted that the government remained dedicated to improving irrigation systems, road networks, and broader infrastructure in the region, with rural populations responding positively to these development efforts.
District authorities presented a comprehensive briefing on completed phases, remaining work stages, and technical hurdles faced during construction. They informed the minister that additional machinery was being deployed to accelerate progress.
Farmers and residents who met with the minister during the visit shared their expectations that improved irrigation capacity would boost agricultural output across the district.
The inspection was attended by district officials, irrigation engineers, public representatives, party functionaries, and community members.
The minister reaffirmed the government's resolve to complete the Yathalakunta tunnel project at the earliest opportunity and operationalise it for public benefit.
