EuroSchool Bannerghatta Earns Global Recognition in World's Top 10 for Environmental Action

EuroSchool Bannerghatta has secured a place among the world's leading ten schools for environmental action, receiving recognition in the World's Best School Prizes 2026, an initiative established by T4 Education.

The honour reflects the institution's commitment to integrating environmental stewardship into its institutional framework—from campus design and daily operations to the educational experience itself. The selection of the Bengaluru school underscores how educational institutions can foster environmental consciousness across multiple dimensions of school life.

India has achieved notable prominence in this year's awards, with seven schools making the shortlist across the various top 10 categories. This makes the country the most prominently featured nation among the competing institutions.

The World's Best School Prizes, launched in 2022 by T4 Education, recognise educational institutions creating meaningful transformation within classrooms and broader communities globally. The awards span five distinct categories: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives.

EuroSchool Bannerghatta's recognition acknowledges its development of a nature-centred educational environment where academic excellence, student wellbeing, ecological sustainability and practical life competencies converge. The school aims to cultivate learners who demonstrate environmental consciousness, emotional strength and readiness for future challenges.

The institution's environmental commitment took shape from its inception. The campus was constructed on former orchard land, with the architectural design intentionally preserving existing vegetation, including a jackfruit tree that was guaranteed protection. Rather than viewing natural elements as impediments to construction, the development prioritised coexistence with the existing ecosystem.

This foundational philosophy permeates contemporary school operations through initiatives including outdoor classroom sessions, systematic waste management, composting programmes, farm-to-table initiatives, strategies to minimise food waste, and student-driven environmental projects.

An expert Judging Academy will determine the victors across the five prize categories, with the announcement of finalists and winners scheduled for November 2026.

The 50 shortlisted institutions across all categories will participate in a global public voting process to select the recipient of the Community Choice Award.

Shortlisted schools and award recipients will gather at the World Schools Summit in London during January 2027, where they will present their approaches and successful methodologies to international policymakers and educational professionals.
