Hyderabad: During a Wednesday gathering at the district headquarters, Ranga Reddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy underscored the necessity for the district administration and political parties to join forces in creating a voter list free from errors and conducted with full transparency.

The meeting, which brought together representatives from various political parties at the Collectorate, centred on the Special Intensive Revision process for electoral rolls. The Collector emphasized that the district administration is executing this voter list revision with transparency and responsibility, adhering strictly to the directives issued by the Election Commission.

He called upon all political parties to undertake field visits and promptly designate Booth Level Agents to assist in the revision process.

Comprehensive Verification Drive Set to Begin

Beginning June 15, Booth Level Officers will undergo extensive training in preparation for their expanded duties. These officials will then undertake a house-to-house verification exercise as part of the revision initiative.

The Collector highlighted the crucial responsibilities shouldered by BLOs in facilitating new voter registrations and ensuring the accuracy of electoral rolls. The administration plans to purge deceased voters from the system, track voters who have relocated, and confirm that all newly eligible voters are properly registered.

The Collector made a particular appeal to all individuals who will attain 18 years of age by October 1, 2026, to complete their voter registration using Form-6. He also advised existing voters to utilize Form-8 should they require any corrections, updates, or modifications to their voter registration details.

Political Parties Present Range of Concerns

During the meeting, representatives from recognized political parties raised several operational and administrative matters. They sought the establishment of additional polling stations within multi-storey residential complexes, citing the considerable distances voters currently must travel to cast their ballots.

The representatives also called for swift action in removing duplicate voter entries and records of deceased individuals before the forthcoming GHMC elections. They additionally pressed for the immediate filling of vacant BLO positions and requested verification of properties where more than 50 voters are registered under a single address.

Party representatives further sought copies of the SIR-2002 voter list and requested that comprehensive training be provided to BLOs, their supervisors, and Booth Level Agents prior to the commencement of the revision process.

Administration Pledges Action on Suggestions

The Collector assured the assembled representatives that the administration would carefully evaluate all recommendations in accordance with Election Commission standards. He committed to implementing corrective measures aimed at eliminating duplicate voter entries and bolstering the transparency of data entry procedures.

Officials at the meeting informed attendees that information pertaining to polling station locations, BLO assignments, and BLO supervisors within GHMC jurisdictions would be made available to political parties following verification by Electoral Registration Officers.

The meeting drew participation from multiple BJP and BRS representatives, along with district revenue officials, Revenue Divisional Officers, and election department staff.
