Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has inaugurated a week-long tourism celebration at the State Institute of Hospitality Management in Zaheerabad as part of the government's 'Prajapalana – Pragati Pranalika' initiative.

The event marked the formal launch of newly developed bakery and confectionery programmes, which have been introduced in collaboration with the SC Corporation. Alongside this, the minister opened admissions for BBA and MBA courses for the upcoming academic year at NITHM and unveiled the Tourism Department's 'Tourist Guide' poster.

Speaking at the inauguration, Krishna Rao highlighted that the government had revived the SIHM institution after it had remained non-functional for several years. He disclosed plans to allocate Rs 5 crore to upgrade the institute's infrastructure and capabilities to match corporate standards.

The minister underscored that the institution was established with the primary objective of enhancing vocational competencies among youth in rural areas, enabling them to achieve economic independence. He emphasised the government's commitment to supporting students from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Backward Class communities hailing from rural regions through skill-oriented educational programmes.

To ease the financial constraints faced by economically disadvantaged students, the government intends to introduce scholarship schemes for those enrolled at SIHM. Krishna Rao also noted that the tourism and hospitality industries present substantial career prospects within the private sector.

Addressing the students, the minister stressed the importance of developing language competencies alongside technical expertise. He encouraged them to acquire proficiency in foreign languages to enhance their employability in the job market. He also appealed to parents to motivate their children to choose professional and career-focused educational pathways.
