Malkajgiri Traffic Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Vehicle Modifications

Hyderabad's Malkajgiri traffic police have intensified enforcement action against motorists violating regulations on vehicle modifications, focusing particularly on illegal tinting and unapproved audio devices.
The operation, conducted under the leadership of Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi and coordinated by DCP Traffic-I and DCP Traffic-II, mobilized assistant commissioners, inspectors, sub-inspectors and field personnel across the commissionerate. Enforcement teams concentrated their efforts on major intersections, commercial zones and congested traffic corridors.
The drive yielded significant results. Officers registered 556 cases against drivers fitted with tinted glass and black films on their vehicles, collecting fines totalling Rs 3.88 lakh. In a separate action against unauthorized sirens and multi-toned horns, police booked 159 cases and recovered Rs 1.60 lakh in penalties. The combined enforcement action resulted in 715 cases overall.
Traffic officials highlighted the safety and public order concerns underlying the regulations. Excessive window tinting compromises visibility for drivers and hampers police surveillance and enforcement capabilities, they noted. Unauthorized sirens and multi-toned horns contribute to noise pollution while enabling some motorists to illegally commandeer road priority and intimidate other users, officials stated.
The Malkajgiri traffic police have urged vehicle owners to comply with permissible tinting limits and refrain from installing unauthorized sirens or pressure horns on private automobiles. Authorities indicated that regular enforcement operations will continue as part of broader efforts to strengthen road safety standards and ensure adherence to motor vehicle regulations across the jurisdiction.
