MINI Countryman C Arrives in India as Locally Manufactured SUV

BMW Group unveiled the latest generation MINI Countryman C in India on June 18, 2026, with the vehicle now manufactured domestically at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. The petrol-powered SUV is available for booking at authorized MINI dealerships across the country, with deliveries commencing immediately.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, described the vehicle as "a new kind of BIG," highlighting how it transforms the traditional MINI silhouette into a commanding SUV while maintaining the brand's signature go-kart handling. He noted that domestic production strengthens the portfolio and delivers compelling value for modern, urban Indian luxury buyers seeking both practical utility and distinctive style.

The Countryman C is offered exclusively in the Favoured Pack configuration at an ex-showroom price of INR 47,50,000. Five exterior colours are available—British Racing Green, Smokey Green, Nanuq White, Chili Red, and Slate Blue—with a standard Jet Black roof. The vehicle rides on 19-inch Kaleido Spoke Two-Tone alloy wheels and features JCW Sports Seats upholstered in Vescin Vintage Brown.

Financing options through BMW India Financial Services allow customers to own the vehicle from INR 56,990 monthly with zero down payment. The package includes an industry-leading assured buyback value of up to 66% after three years, providing flexibility at the end of the financing term. Additional coverage options include MINI Service Inclusive plans, MINI Secure packages, and Extended Warranty coverage.

The vehicle comes with a standard two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and 24×7 roadside assistance. Service plans commence from three years or 40,000 kilometres and extend up to ten years or 100,000 kilometres. Warranty extensions are available from the third year of ownership through a maximum ten-year period.

The design language, termed "Charismatic Simplicity," blends traditional MINI values with contemporary innovations. The SUV features a vertical body detail orientation, class-leading height and ground clearance, an octagonal front grille, and angular LED lighting elements. Short overhangs and a sculptural bonnet reinforce its commanding road presence. The DRL system offers three selectable signature modes with choreographed welcome and farewell animations.

Inside, minimalist aesthetics meet digital sophistication. The hi-resolution 240mm Circular OLED touchscreen serves as the centrepiece, with the cockpit divided into upper and lower sections featuring vertical door handles and air vents. Rear seats recline up to 25 degrees and slide up to 130 millimetres, while the 505-litre boot expands to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded. Interior surfaces employ recycled two-tone knitted textile rather than chrome or leather, enhanced by ambient lighting and projections from the MINI Interaction Unit.

The engine is a TwinPower Turbo petrol unit generating 156 horsepower and 240 Newton-metres of torque. Power transfers through a 7-Speed Double Clutch Steptronic Sport Transmission, offering broader gear spread and reduced engine speed increments for efficient and sporty performance.

The MINI Operating System 9 supports touchscreen and voice commands through the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant, activated by saying "Hey MINI." The system manages navigation, telephony, and entertainment functions. MINI Digital Key Plus converts the smartphone into a car key via the MINI App, transferable between users along with personalized vehicle settings. Comfort Access automatically locks and unlocks the vehicle when the key is detected within 1.5 metres. The MINIMALISM technology suite incorporates auto start/stop, brake energy recuperation, active cooling air ducts, and electromechanical power steering. Lightweight alloy wheels with recycled aluminium further reduce the carbon footprint.

Safety credentials include a five-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard equipment encompasses front passenger and side curtain airbags, Brake Assist, three-point seat belts, Dynamic Stability Control, crash sensors, anti-lock braking, Cornering Brake Control, rear-view camera, and tubeless tyres with pressure monitoring. An integrated emergency spare wheel sits under the load floor, and the 60-litre fuel tank ensures extended range between refuelling.
