Heritage College Convenes Symposium on Computational Methods in Physical Chemistry Education

The Chemistry Department at The Heritage College organised a full-day symposium focused on computational methodologies in undergraduate laboratory instruction on 8 May 2026, partnering with the University of Calcutta's UG BOS Chemistry.

The gathering assembled chemists, teaching professionals, and student researchers to examine how computational techniques are reshaping the landscape of undergraduate chemistry instruction. Participants explored strategies for transforming physical chemistry into a more hands-on, analytical, and practically relevant field of study for learners.

The programme included presentations from leading academics Dr. Partha Biswas, Dr. Ankan Sanyal, Dr. Priyatosh Dutta, and Dr. Suchandra Biswas, who discussed computational software applications, virtual laboratory environments, and contemporary teaching approaches within physical chemistry.

The symposium drew strong engagement from academic staff and student participants representing multiple colleges and universities, demonstrating growing momentum toward blending computational methods with conventional laboratory work.

The Heritage College used the occasion to underscore its dedication to advancing scholarly rigour, creative problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary educational opportunities within the sciences.
