The Chainsmokers to Headline Sunburn Festival 2026 in Mumbai, Launching Three-City India Tour in December

Grammy Award-winning electronic music duo The Chainsmokers will return to India this December for a major tour spanning three metropolitan cities. The act, comprising Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, will perform in Mumbai on December 18th, Delhi on December 19th, and Bengaluru on December 20th.
The Mumbai performance marks a significant milestone for Sunburn Festival 2026, with the duo serving as headliners at the event held at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. Tickets for the Mumbai and Bengaluru shows are now on sale through BookMyShow, while Delhi attendees are encouraged to register early for future ticket availability.
The Chainsmokers have maintained a dominant presence in global music culture since their breakthrough a decade ago. Their track "Closer," featuring Halsey, achieved Billboard Hot 100 number-one status and remains among Spotify's most-streamed songs. Additional chart successes include "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya, which won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, and "Something Just Like This," a collaboration with Coldplay.
For Indian audiences spanning millennials and Generation Z, the duo's catalogue has served as a cultural touchstone. Their music became synonymous with formative life experiences—from college festivals to late-night gatherings—resonating with a generation navigating relationships and identity in the digital age.
Karan Singh, CEO of Sunburn, commented on the announcement: "There are very few artists whose music instantly transports people back to a specific phase of their lives and The Chainsmokers are absolutely one of them. For Indian millennials and Gen Z, their songs became part of core youth culture moments over the last decade. We understand the emotional excitement fans have around witnessing them live again, especially at a time when nostalgia and shared cultural experiences are driving fan communities globally. Our vision is to create large-scale cultural moments where music, fandom, production and community come together in a way that reflects the scale of what young India wants from live entertainment today."
The Chainsmokers' catalogue comprises over 118 million records sold globally, including three Diamond-certified singles. Their discography spans multiple studio albums: Memories…Do Not Open debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, followed by Sick Boy and World War Joy, both gold-certified. Their 2022 album So Far So Good marked their fourth number-one debut on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. Recent releases include the 2024 EP No Hard Feelings, 2025 singles "Addicted" featuring Zerb & Ink and "Don't Lie" with Kim Petras, and the October 2025 EP Breathe. In 2026, they released the collaborative EP Love is Kind with Oaks.
Beyond music, Taggart and Pall have established themselves as venture capital investors. They founded Mantis Venture Capital in 2020, which has completed over 130 investments and manages $225 million in assets under management. The firm recently closed a $100 million Fund III in July 2025, focusing on early-stage opportunities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and fintech.
The duo have also engaged in philanthropic work. During the global pandemic, they funded the production and distribution of tens of thousands of PPE N95 masks to hospitals in New York and Las Vegas. The Youth Emerging Stronger charity recognized them with the "Key of Hope Award" for their commitment to philanthropy and support for underprivileged children.
Sunburn Festival itself has evolved significantly over nearly two decades, transitioning from a music festival into a broader cultural institution that has shaped India's live entertainment and electronic music landscape. The festival's relocation to Mahalaxmi Racecourse reflects an expanded vision for large-scale music experiences in the country.
