TGSRTC Provides Rs 1 Crore to Families of Drivers Killed in Road Accidents

Hyderabad — The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has disbursed substantial financial compensation to bereaved families following tragic road accidents involving two of its drivers.
In a ceremony held at Bus Bhavan on Monday, TGSRTC officials distributed Rs 1 crore each to the next of kin of drivers Sudhakar and Srinivas Reddy, both of whom perished in separate vehicular accidents. Sudhakar was stationed at Picket Depot, while Srinivas Reddy worked from Pargi Depot.
The compensation was made possible through a free accident insurance scheme administered jointly by TGSRTC and Union Bank of India. Both deceased employees maintained Union Bank Super Salary Savings Accounts, which included accident coverage linked to their RuPay cards. Staff members who opened these designated salary accounts automatically qualify for the insurance benefits, which extend Rs 1 crore to families in the event of accidental death.
TGSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Y. Nagi Reddy, Union Bank Chief General Manager M. Ravindra Babu, and Regional Head D. Venkateswarlu presented the cheques to the grieving families.
During the event, Nagi Reddy acknowledged the loss of both drivers and reaffirmed TGSRTC's commitment to safeguarding employee welfare and security. He noted that the Telangana government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, continues to strengthen systems that protect workers and ensure financial security for their families.
"Insurance support schemes such as these become vital during emergencies and unforeseen circumstances," the MD stated, emphasizing the importance of employees utilizing available welfare programmes.
Nagi Reddy expressed gratitude to Union Bank of India for its partnership with TGSRTC and for standing with affected families during their time of crisis.
Executive Director CH Venkanna, Finance Advisor Vijayapushpa, and Chief Personnel Manager Ushadevi were among other officials present at the programme, along with representatives from Union Bank.
