Hyderabad — The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has introduced a comprehensive surveillance network designed to bolster safety measures and deter criminal activity aboard its buses.

The initiative, branded as "Buslo Bharosa," was unveiled by TGSRTC Managing Director Nagireddy in partnership with local law enforcement agencies. The first phase of implementation has been concentrated in the Adilabad district, where camera equipment has been installed on approximately 175 buses.

The surveillance infrastructure provides complete coverage of passenger compartments, encompassing the operator's area, designated women's sections, external platforms, and rear seating zones. Recordings capture all interior movement and behaviour patterns, with live monitoring capabilities extended to drivers, crew members, and central dispatch operations.

According to transport officials, the system addresses multiple safety concerns including harassment incidents, petty crime, and misconduct during journeys. Nagireddy emphasized that visible security measures would discourage criminal elements while simultaneously boosting traveller confidence, particularly among female and senior passengers.

The surveillance footage serves a dual investigative purpose: it enables authorities to track repeat offenders and identify criminal networks operating on public transport routes. In accident scenarios or other emergencies, recorded evidence becomes immediately available for official inquiries.

Beyond crime prevention, officials noted that the presence of monitoring equipment encourages professional conduct among drivers and transport staff, potentially raising operational standards across the fleet.

Following evaluation of outcomes in Adilabad, TGSRTC leadership has signalled intentions to roll out the CCTV programme to bus depots throughout the state. Nagireddy noted that commuters have responded positively to the corporation's technology-centred approach to ensuring travel security.
