TGSPDCL Undertakes Comprehensive Digital Mapping to Enhance Power Distribution

Hyderabad: Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has rolled out an ambitious digital network mapping initiative designed to modernise its electricity distribution infrastructure and elevate service delivery to consumers. The programme is expected to enable swifter identification of supply disruptions, reduce resolution times for complaints, and foster greater accountability.
The rollout commenced in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) zone. The initiative has received backing from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and Energy Department Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal. TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitish V. Patil formally inaugurated the drive.
Systematic Field Verification Underway
The execution involves field teams conducting systematic verification of distribution transformer identification codes along every 11 kV feeder line. As part of the July billing period, meter readers will conduct on-ground visits to each transformer installation and document associated consumer connections.
Comprehensive Network Documentation
The mapping exercise encompasses the entire electricity distribution ecosystem, spanning extra-high tension substations, 33/11 kilovolt substations, 11 kV feeder lines, distribution transformers, and individual consumer connection points. Once completed, this digital architecture will enable consumers to visualise their complete power supply chain through a unified online interface.
The system is designed to pinpoint outages with minimal delay and correlate complaints submitted via the 1912 helpline to the specific feeder or transformer responsible. This technological integration will considerably shorten the time required to detect faults and restore supply. Consumers will also receive real-time notifications regarding outages and projected restoration timelines.
Integrated Platform in Development
TGSPDCL is constructing an integrated digital ecosystem that will facilitate instantaneous complaint monitoring, autonomous detection of supply interruptions, immediate notifications to field personnel, and expedited power restoration protocols.
Jitish V. Patil stated that the organisation is committed to leveraging technology and digital transformation to deliver services characterised by speed, accountability, and dependability. He emphasised that this programme would fortify the distribution network's resilience and establish fresh standards in customer-centric operations.
