TGSPDCL Official Arrested in Sangareddy for Accepting ₹25,000 Bribe

Hyderabad: In a significant action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a senior official from Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) on charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe.

B. Rama Krishna Reddy, serving as Additional Assistant Engineer (Operations) at TGSPDCL's IDA Bollaram facility, was apprehended on Thursday afternoon during a sting operation. ACB personnel caught him red-handed while accepting ₹25,000 from a member of the public near his workplace at approximately 1:25 pm.

The bribe demand emerged from an incident dating back to June 12, 2026, when a vehicle collided with an electricity pole. Reddy allegedly sought the payment to refrain from pursuing disciplinary action against the complainant in connection with the damage caused by the accident.

According to ACB investigators, the complainant lodged a complaint after the official made the demand for improper gratification. In response, ACB personnel organized a carefully monitored operation to trap the accused during the transaction. The officers successfully intercepted him as he received the payment and subsequently recovered the entire amount from his possession.

The ACB has characterised the incident as a clear case of misuse of official authority for personal gain. Following the arrest, legal action has been initiated against Reddy. He is scheduled to appear before the Special Court designated for ACB cases in Hyderabad.

The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to collect additional evidence. The identity of the complainant has been kept confidential by the ACB for protective purposes.
