Hyderabad is set to welcome a Tesla electric vehicle showroom, following a Friday meeting between Tesla India representatives and Telangana's IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

During the discussion, Tesla India officials outlined their intentions to establish sales and service operations in the city. Tesla India General Manager Sharad Agarwal and Lead Public Policy and Business Development Director Rajat presented the company's expansion plans to state government representatives.

Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted Telangana's robust infrastructure for EV development and advanced mobility technologies. The state has emerged as a significant hub for semiconductor design, automotive software, electronics engineering and cutting-edge technology sectors, he noted.

The Minister welcomed Tesla's decision to expand into Hyderabad, pointing out that the company operates four showrooms across India. Beyond manufacturing electric vehicles, he emphasized Tesla's leadership in EV software innovation, semiconductor development, artificial intelligence, robotics and battery technology.

Alignment with State's Tech Vision

According to Sridhar Babu, Telangana's technological capabilities align well with Tesla's innovation roadmap. Semiconductor manufacturers operating in Hyderabad are actively developing advanced components and sensors for intelligent mobility and electric vehicle applications, he explained.

The Minister underscored the significant growth opportunity in India's EV sector, which currently represents approximately four per cent of the nation's automobile market. Recognizing this potential, the Telangana government has prioritized increasing electric vehicle adoption throughout the state.

The state administration is working to establish Hyderabad as an international hub for clean technology and next-generation mobility solutions. Sridhar Babu invited Tesla representatives to consider partnerships with ancillary industries in Telangana and assured comprehensive government backing for investments in technology and industrial development.

Government IT Advisor Sai Krishna, TGIIC Managing Director Shashank, Industries Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarthy and Special Secretary Raghurama Sharma participated in the meeting.
