Sircilla Sees High Tensions as BRS Stages Protest Over Bandi Sanjay's Remarks

Hyderabad: The town of Sircilla witnessed escalating tensions on Wednesday as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi staged a demonstration against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, leading to widespread police detentions of party cadre and leaders.
The confrontation centred on inflammatory personal remarks that Bandi Sanjay had allegedly directed at KT Rama Rao, the BRS working president. Incensed by these comments, party leaders assembled to voice their grievances and made clear that the minister's visit to the town would not proceed without a formal apology to KTR.
BRS representatives warned they would maintain their protest activities unless the Union minister issued an unconditional retraction of his statements.
In response to the mobilisation call, police initiated preventive detention operations in the early hours of the day. Among those taken into custody were Jindam Chakrapani, the Sircilla town president, and Darla Sandeep, the municipal vice-chairman. The police also apprehended Matla Madhu, former president of the district sarpanches forum, along with numerous other party workers near the Sircilla bypass.
After initial detentions at the roadside, officers transported the arrested leaders to the local police station.
The BRS leadership condemned the police action as unlawful and arbitrary. They reiterated their objections to the remarks levelled against KTR and continued their agitation with chants and slogans denouncing the Union minister.
Confrontations intensified as discussions between detained party members and police personnel grew heated. The atmosphere in Sircilla remained fraught throughout the day, with anti-Sanjay slogans reverberating through various parts of the town.
Those detained included municipal councillors, village sarpanches, and various rank-and-file BRS activists.
