Hyderabad: The Telangana Zoo Parks Authority has given its approval to budget allocations for the 2026-27 financial year aimed at bolstering infrastructure, wildlife conservation efforts and amenities for visitors across the State.

The budget proposals were endorsed during the 15th gathering of the Telangana Zoo Parks Authority, convened at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha outlined the government's commitment to bringing zoo facilities in line with both national and international benchmarks.

The meeting saw officials discussing progress on zoo development initiatives, animal protection strategies, infrastructure enhancements and service improvements for the visiting public across various facilities in Telangana.

Minister Surekha instructed officials to place emphasis on animal welfare, upkeep of grounds, vegetation management and adherence to safety protocols across all zoo parks. She additionally called for the creation of educational initiatives centred on wildlife conservation targeting young people and school-going children.

Strengthening Visitor Amenities

The Minister directed the authorities to enhance digital infrastructure and visitor assistance systems within zoo parks. She also urged improvements to water supply systems, rest areas and sanitation provisions catering to guests.

Furthermore, Surekha advised officials to establish state-of-the-art veterinary services to ensure proper healthcare and protection of wildlife in the facilities.

During the proceedings, officials laid out the financial proposals for 2026-27, which received formal approval from the Telangana Zoo Parks Authority.

Conservation and Experience Enhancement

Forest Department Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem, Head of Forest Forces Dr. C. Suvarna and Wildlife Chief Vinay Kumar were present at the session. Chief Conservator of Forests Priyanka Varghese, senior forest officer Ratnakar Jauhari, Bhima Nayak and Zoo Director Sunil Hiramath also attended along with other senior personnel from the forest department and zoo administration.

The deliberations centred on raising conservation standards and creating a better experience for visitors at zoo parks throughout Telangana.
