Hyderabad — The Telangana Education Department has approved a plan to launch specialised work books for students in Classes 6 through 10 across government schools beginning the 2026-27 academic session.

The initiative aims to reach all government educational institutions by the conclusion of June. The modules have been developed in an interactive, conversation-based approach spanning Telugu, Hindi, English, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics, designed to facilitate easier comprehension for learners.

The printing phase has not yet commenced, though department officials indicated that production would begin shortly. Questions persist regarding whether the targeted distribution deadline of end-June can be achieved.

Enhancing Academic Performance Through Practice

The Education Department views consistent practice as instrumental in elevating student learning outcomes and examination performance. Officials contend that the purpose-built work books would foster ongoing educational engagement, moving beyond reliance on passive classroom instruction alone.

The scheme stands to impact approximately 10 lakh students enrolled in government schools throughout the state.

In a related decision, the department plans to produce roughly 90 per cent of the materials in English medium. Officials justified this approach as aligning with contemporary educational standards, enabling government school learners to compete on equal footing with their counterparts. The emphasis on English-medium materials is expected to strengthen students' linguistic proficiency in the language while allowing immediate practice of topics through embedded exercises following classroom sessions. The department believes this methodology will deepen conceptual understanding and strengthen overall academic achievement.
