Telangana to Launch Week-Long Women's Empowerment Initiative from May 25

Hyderabad: In a bid to advance women's economic, social and political empowerment, the Telangana administration will conduct week-long women's celebrations spanning May 25 to 31 across all districts.
The initiative, aligned with the Praja Palana-Pragathi Pranalika framework, will bring together rural women, self-help group members, youth, schoolgirls, persons with disabilities and senior women in participatory activities. The week-long schedule will prioritise economic independence, expanded livelihood opportunities, social welfare provisions, healthcare, security and infrastructure enhancement.
Activities will range from awareness campaigns and specialised forums to the opening of new infrastructure facilities, with programmes structured at both grassroots and district administration levels. Livelihood skill-building sessions and credit facilitation camps will be central components.
A pivotal event is scheduled for May 29 in Hyderabad, when Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate an entrepreneurship incubation platform for women business owners and oversee the commencement of livelihood ventures.
Transforming women's groups into economic engines
Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka outlined the government's vision of converting women's collectives from savings-focused entities into dynamic economic units. She highlighted initiatives to bring banking facilities, income-generating units and small-scale industries to village communities, including agricultural value-addition facilities and renewable energy projects.
"When income reaches women's hands, it strengthens households and boosts rural economic activity," Seethakka stated.
On the opening day, May 25, the state will commission 0.5 megawatt solar installations in Vikarabad, Khammam, Peddapalli and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts. Additionally, women's self-help groups will begin managing 450 regional transport buses.
On May 26, officials will conduct outreach to identify and enrol eligible beneficiaries—women, seniors, differently-abled individuals and girls—into welfare schemes and self-help groups.
May 29 will feature loan facilitation camps alongside livelihood unit inaugurations. The government will also present motorised vehicles to persons with disabilities. Across the state, poultry operations, small manufacturing units and food processing centres will commence operations.
The final two days, May 30-31, will focus on women's safety awareness, medical check-up camps and bicycle distribution to adolescent girls.
Minister Seethakka called upon district officials, women's organisations and elected representatives to collaborate in ensuring the celebrations' success statewide.
