The Telangana government has announced a comprehensive week-long initiative centred on tourism, heritage and culture, scheduled to run from May 18 to May 24 as part of Theme-10 of its 99 Days Action Plan.

Multiple state departments will collaborate on the programme, including the Department of Tourism, National Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (NITHM), Department of Heritage, Department of Language and Culture, and Department of Youth Advancement.

The initiative seeks to revitalise Telangana's tourism industry while simultaneously prioritising heritage conservation, cultural preservation, hospitality skill development and youth engagement across the state.

Events and Activities

Heritage walks will kick off the week on May 18, with activities scheduled across all districts. The Department of Tourism will simultaneously launch an activation drive at Raymond's Tombs and unveil a strategic action plan focused on revamping heritage tourism offerings.

The Department of Heritage will mark International Museum Day at the State Museum in Hyderabad, while the Department of Language and Culture will host cultural performances at Ravindra Bharathi. NITHM will partner with the Department of Entrepreneurship and Employment Training (DEET) to deliver career guidance workshops in tourism and hospitality at SIHM in Zaheerabad.

Throughout the week, tourism activation drives will take place at Khajana Building and other prominent destinations. District-level officials will meet with tourism influencers and digital content creators to strengthen promotional efforts through online channels.

The Yuva Tourism Club activity plan will be rolled out statewide, while heritage conservation and cleanliness initiatives will be undertaken at Gunfoundry, Paigah Tombs, Pangal and the Centenary Heritage Museum.

Cultural Programming and Initiatives

Evening programmes at Ravindra Bharathi will feature diverse performances including folk dances, classical presentations, literary events, theatre productions and devotional music by local artists. Brochures for site museums and heritage institutions in Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Warangal, Jogulamba Gadwal and Hyderabad will be released during the week.

NITHM will conduct a two-day Faculty Development Programme emphasising technological competency and will host Tourism Conclave 2026, themed "Destination Telangana: Strategies for the Next Frontier of Tourism," in Hyderabad.

The programme will conclude with cleanliness drives at tourist sites and heritage monuments across all districts, followed by the release of the Telangana Tourism Brand Kit by District Collectors.
