Telangana Government Intensifies Push to Strengthen State Revenue Collections

Hyderabad: In a bid to strengthen its financial position and meet budgetary objectives for the ongoing fiscal year, the Telangana government has intensified its efforts to enhance revenue generation and minimise losses.
On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu convened a strategic meeting of the Resource Mobilization Cabinet Sub-Committee at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. The session brought together Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Duddilla Sridhar Babu, alongside senior government officials, to assess revenue performance across key departments and identify new income-generation prospects.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister issued explicit directives to all departments to synchronise their revenue collections with the budgeted projections for the 2026-27 financial year. He emphasised the necessity of maximising all available revenue channels while simultaneously plugging financial leaks that undermine state income. To ensure accountability and consistency, he mandated that departments adhere to fixed collection timelines and schedules, with mandatory weekly Friday review sessions for senior officials. Those unable to attend in person were instructed to participate remotely via video conference.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy reinforced the commitment to fiscal discipline by instructing authorities to take decisive measures against unlawful activities that drain the state treasury.
Significant developments emerged regarding revenue enhancement initiatives. Officials briefed the committee that revised land market valuations and updated registration fees would take effect across Telangana from May 28, following earlier Cabinet approvals. This adjustment is expected to generate increased revenue for the Registration Department. Additionally, authorities have finalised the HILT Policy Guidelines pertaining to the Industries Department, with related government orders set to be released imminently.
The committee's review encompassed revenue performance and future goals across multiple departments, including Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, Industries, Registrations, Mining, Revenue, and Transport.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Finance Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Mines Principal Secretary Sridhar, Revenue Secretary Lokesh Kumar, TGIIC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Shashank, and other senior administrative personnel.
