Hyderabad — Telangana observed Sports Day across the state, incorporating the celebrations into the ongoing Sports and Youth festival programme under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika scheme.

The festivities unfolded simultaneously at district and state levels. All 32 district headquarters witnessed competitive events overseen by district collectors and officials from the Youth and Sports Department. The primary state-level gathering convened at LB Stadium in Hyderabad, drawing participation from youth, sportspeople, family members and community members.

Concurrently, the Telangana Sports Authority orchestrated inter-stadium competitions spanning multiple venues including GMCB Stadium in Gachibowli, KBR Indoor Stadium, Saroor Nagar Indoor Stadium, Gymkhana Grounds and the Cycling Velodrome.

The sports calendar encompassed a diverse range of disciplines: athletics, basketball, badminton, boxing, fencing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, football, chess, handball, volleyball, kabaddi and wrestling.

"The Telangana Sports Authority remains committed to fostering greater involvement in sports and physical fitness across all age categories and communities," Dr Bala Devi stated. She further underscored that promoting physical activity participation would contribute to establishing a more robust and healthier populace.
