Telangana to Launch Special Voter Registration from Mid-June

Hyderabad: Telangana's Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy unveiled the timeline for the state's Special Integrated Review (SIR) voter registration process on Saturday, setting June 15 as the official start date.

The electoral roll preparation phase will span from June 15 through June 24, followed by a house-to-house verification period extending from June 25 to July 24. The CEO indicated that roughly 35,000 Booth Level Officers will undertake comprehensive door-to-door surveys across Telangana during this window.

According to Sudarshan Reddy's announcement at a media briefing, each household will receive a minimum of three visits from a Booth Level Officer. During these visits, officials will distribute partially completed enumeration forms to existing voters and subsequently collect the filled forms.

The verification process will conclude with the publication of draft electoral rolls. Following this, the authorities will open a window for claims and objections from July 31 through August 30, with the final electoral roll scheduled for release on October 1.

The registration process incorporates several modern features aimed at citizen convenience. Officials will record details of new voters through Form-6, and online enumeration options are accessible via the official website. Additionally, authorities have introduced a "Book a Call with BLO" feature alongside the existing voter helpline number 1950.

During his briefing, Sudarshan Reddy clarified that voters need only submit the prescribed enumeration form during the registration process, with no additional documents required at that stage. All applicants who submit forms will be included in the draft voter list, while those who fail to do so will have their names displayed separately in a booth-wise format.

The CEO explained that document submission requirements vary based on applicant age. Individuals born before July 1, 1987, need to provide a single document. Those born between 1987 and 2004 must furnish parental information, while applicants born after 2004 are required to submit parental documents. Authorities will accept objections to the draft rolls once they are published.
