Telangana pushes for dedicated urea supply from Ramagundam plant

Hyderabad — Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled plans on Monday to approach the central government with a request for dedicated urea supplies from the Ramagundam Fertilizers Factory exclusively for the state's farmers.

During a monsoon preparedness assessment meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister indicated that the government would formally communicate with New Delhi seeking to reserve all urea output from the facility for Telangana's agricultural sector.

The review session brought together senior administrators from multiple departments including Agriculture, Irrigation, Urban Development, Panchayat Raj, Health, Home, Hydrology, Disaster Management and Fire Services.

Meteorological Department officials briefed participants on Southwest Monsoon rainfall projections and elaborated on the influence of El Niño phenomena alongside other atmospheric conditions affecting the region.

Revanth Reddy instructed officials to launch farmer education initiatives regarding potential drought scenarios. He emphasized the importance of guiding cultivators toward water-efficient crop varieties and stressed the value of implementing crop rotation and diversification strategies to mitigate risks during unfavorable weather patterns.

The Chief Minister also underscored the necessity for enhanced coordination between district administrators and police leadership, recommending frequent consultations to address citizen concerns and strengthen administrative effectiveness.

He directed officials within the CURE jurisdiction to foster better collaboration between municipal and law enforcement bodies. The Chief Minister called for joint efforts among the three corporations' commissioners and police commissioners to ensure coordinated execution of state development initiatives.
