Telangana Disburses ₹2,000 Crore in First Phase to Address Retired Workers' Outstanding Payments

Hyderabad — In a significant move toward resolving accumulated pension and retirement-related liabilities, the Telangana government has released ₹2,000 crore as an initial installment. The disbursement aims to settle outstanding dues totaling ₹6,000 crore within a 100-day window.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who also holds the Finance portfolio, authorized the fund release. The Finance Department's Special Chief Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania formalized the order on Friday.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka had previously pledged to the Employees' Joint Action Committee (JAC) that the administration would clear all pending employee liabilities within the stipulated period. This first-phase disbursement represents a concrete step toward fulfilling that commitment.
Through this release, the government has addressed several substantial categories of outstanding payments for retirees across the state.
Cleared Liabilities in Current Phase
State officials confirmed that all General Provident Fund (GPF) withdrawals owed to retired employees have now been processed. Additionally, all commutation dues—payments due upon retirement—that were pending through May 2025 have been settled.
Officials attributed the timely execution to methodical financial planning and a well-structured payment strategy developed by the administration.
Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that the government maintains unwavering focus on resolving all outstanding employee obligations. He noted that the initial payment phase addresses longstanding grievances affecting retired workers throughout Telangana.
Remaining Payments on Schedule
The Deputy Chief Minister indicated that the remaining ₹4,000 crore would be released according to the original timeline. State departments are reportedly accelerating efforts to transfer the outstanding balance directly into employee bank accounts.
Retired employees and their union representatives have responded positively to the announcement. Labor leaders commended the administration's responsiveness and acknowledged the government's action on demands that had accumulated over years.
State officials reiterated that worker welfare constitutes a core policy priority, reaffirming their pledge to honor commitments to both current and former government employees.
