Telangana ramps up paddy logistics to streamline grain movement during procurement season

Hyderabad: With paddy procurement accelerating across Telangana, the state's Transport Department has mobilised resources to facilitate the seamless flow of grain from collection points to storage facilities and milling units.
Department leadership has instructed ground-level personnel to maintain sufficient stocks of lorries and tractors to handle the volume of transportation required. Coordination between district officials and the Civil Supplies Department has been mandated to prevent bottlenecks in vehicle allocation and deployment schedules.
Officials have been directed to respond promptly to transport requests originating from procurement centres, ensuring that capacity matches demand without unnecessary delays.
Compliance and oversight measures in place
The Commissioner has emphasised stringent documentation requirements for all vehicles participating in paddy movement. Transportation vehicles must carry current registration certificates, fitness certificates, permits, insurance documentation, pollution compliance certificates, and valid driver credentials.
As procurement activities have intensified statewide, inter-departmental collaboration has been strengthened to maintain continuity in transport operations. The department has tasked officers with expeditious resolution of transport-related bottlenecks and vigilant oversight across all districts.
Officials have underscored that coordinated action across multiple agencies is essential to prevent interruptions in paddy logistics throughout the procurement cycle.
