Telangana Appoints V Hanumantha Rao as BC Welfare Development Advisor with Minister Status

The Telangana government has named senior Congress leader and former Member of Parliament V Hanumantha Rao to the position of BC Welfare Development Advisor, conferring upon him the rank of minister of state. Official notification of the appointment was issued on Thursday.
Under the terms of the appointment, Hanumantha Rao will draw a monthly remuneration of Rs 1 lakh. Should the government fail to provide official residential accommodation, he is entitled to a monthly house rent allowance of Rs 50,000.
The compensation package includes several ancillary benefits tied to the role. For utilising a personal vehicle in the course of official duties, he will receive Rs 30,000 monthly as conveyance allowance, along with Rs 15,000 designated for fuel costs. The government will additionally furnish an official vehicle complete with driver services. Medical reimbursement entitlements applicable to ministers and AIS officers have also been extended to him.
The BC Welfare Department has established a dedicated support team to facilitate Hanumantha Rao's work. This team comprises one private secretary, one data entry operator, two office subordinates, and one driver.
Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao noted in the official orders that all expenses arising from this appointment would be met from the BC Welfare Department's existing budget allocation.
Government officials indicated that Hanumantha Rao's extensive political background would prove valuable in assisting the administration develop welfare initiatives and developmental programmes targeting Backward Classes communities across Telangana.
