Telangana Unveils Comprehensive MSME Greening Programme for Sustainable Manufacturing

Hyderabad: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability in manufacturing, the Telangana government has rolled out a major greening initiative designed to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt cleaner production methods and sustainable practices.
The "Telangana MSME Greening Summit – A RAMP Initiative" took place on Tuesday at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, organised jointly by the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and the Hyderabad Science and Technology Cluster. The latter operates under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
RAMP, which stands for Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance, is a Union Ministry of MSME programme implemented with support from the World Bank.
Digital Tools and Resources Unveiled
Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated three key resources during the summit: the Telangana MSME Greening Portal, an MSME Assessment Toolkit, and a digital dashboard. These platforms will serve as a unified gateway for small and medium enterprises to access information on sustainability initiatives and best practices.
Senior officials from the Directorate of Industries, TGSPDCL, MSME DFO and TGIIC also launched industry-specific technology compendiums to guide manufacturers in their transition.
Focus on Collaborative Growth
The event brought together a diverse ecosystem including policymakers, government representatives, MSME owners, industry associations, startups and financial institutions. Participants engaged in discussions centred on cleaner manufacturing techniques, energy-efficient technologies and digital monitoring systems. Industry leaders also shared their experiences navigating the challenges of implementing sustainable practices.
Through roundtable sessions, officials highlighted the importance of collaborative support mechanisms to help MSMEs in their sustainability journey.
Government's Vision for Green Industry
Speaking at the summit, Minister Sridhar Babu emphasised that Telangana aspires to build an industrial economy equipped for the future, with sustainability and economic development advancing in tandem. He underscored that MSMEs represent the foundation of Telangana's economy, making their shift towards green manufacturing essential to realising the state's vision of a "Rising Telangana".
Director of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthy highlighted that the initiative would enhance the competitiveness, resilience and sustainability credentials of MSMEs. The programme emphasises institutional capacity building, expanded market access and technology adoption.
RICH CEO Rashmi Pimpale remarked that innovation and sustainability must move forward together to foster enduring industrial development.
Officials indicated that the initiative aims to deepen institutional partnerships and expedite the uptake of new technologies across the state's manufacturing sector.
