Telangana to Develop Interconnected Urban Growth Corridors Across State

Hyderabad: A comprehensive infrastructure initiative is underway in Telangana, with the state government mapping out a network of Mega Growth Corridors designed to integrate urban centres across the region. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has tasked officials with developing these interconnected projects that will link several key municipalities.
The planned corridor network encompasses multiple routes: one connecting Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam; another spanning Mahabubnagar, Bhoothpur and Jadcherla; and a third linking Kothagudem, Palvancha and Sujatha Nagar. The Chief Minister identified the Warangal-Karimnagar-Khammam corridor as particularly crucial to steering the state's long-term development trajectory.
A high-level review meeting brought together officials from the Municipal Administration and Roads and Buildings departments. During the session, the Chief Minister mandated the construction of Outer Ring Roads serving Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar municipal corporations. He further directed officials to establish planned radial road connections between towns and to realign road networks in proximity to major urban centres. The departments have been instructed to develop infrastructure blueprints spanning a 25-year horizon.
Sustainability and smart infrastructure form core components of the initiative. The Chief Minister emphasised that solid waste management systems, wastewater treatment plants and renewable energy installations should be integrated into urban planning frameworks for each municipality. Advanced technological systems will be deployed for underground drainage networks. The government has also committed to expanding electric vehicle adoption across departmental operations to curtail costs, with a directive that only EVs will be procured for official use going forward.
The discussion extended to emerging urban technologies, including smart poles, multi-utility towers and artificial intelligence-driven traffic management solutions. Infrastructure designs will be calibrated to reflect the specific population requirements of individual towns and cities. Additionally, treated water has been mandated for all construction activities, with the Sewage and Wastewater Management Board designated as the supply authority.
The meeting also reviewed specialised corridor projects. A Temple Corridor initiative will connect Nalgonda and Yadagirigutta, while a Tourism Corridor is being developed to link Adilabad, Nagoba, Basara and the Kadem Project. The Chief Minister directed officials to complete upgrades to the Alampur Jogulamba Temple ahead of the Krishna Pushkarams festival.
Aviation infrastructure received attention as well. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of assessing water requirements for the proposed Warangal Airport and improving road access to both the Warangal facility and the Adilabad Airport, which is being established by the Ministry of Defence.
In administrative restructuring, the Chief Minister instructed departments to consolidate municipalities within the Singareni Collieries region into a unified administrative framework.
