Telangana Media Academy Approves Financial Support for 21 Journalists and Families

Hyderabad: The journalists welfare fund committee of the Telangana Media Academy has greenlit financial assistance for 21 journalists and their dependents across the state, according to Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy.
The fifth session of the committee convened on Thursday at the Media Academy headquarters in Nampally, where members deliberated on 29 applications seeking aid under the journalists welfare fund scheme.
Of the applications reviewed, the committee sanctioned assistance for 17 families who have lost journalists, while four working journalists battling severe illnesses or injuries from accidents also received approval for support.
Each bereaved family will receive an immediate payment of ₹1 lakh, with an additional monthly pension of ₹3,000 extended over a five-year period, Reddy explained. The scheme further encompasses educational provisions for children of deceased journalists, offering monthly tuition assistance of ₹1,000 per child for up to two children per family studying from lower kindergarten through Class 10.
The meeting was attended by Information Department Joint Director D.S. Jagan, Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Accounts Officer Poornachander Rao, and Manager D.R.S. Shaileshwar Reddy.
