Telangana to Subsidize Haj Pilgrimage Costs Amid Rising Travel Expenses

Hyderabad: In response to escalating travel costs driven by regional tensions in West Asia, the Telangana government has announced it will absorb the additional financial burden facing Haj pilgrims this year.
The decision addresses concerns about affordability as approximately 7,000 residents from Telangana have registered for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Rising fuel prices, stemming from heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, have significantly increased the overall cost of Haj travel.
For many Muslim families across the state, the journey to perform Haj represents a lifelong aspiration. These pilgrims typically rely entirely on personal savings accumulated over many years to fund their religious journey.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed the state administration to shoulder the additional costs that have emerged due to the volatile international situation. The move comes as officials work to ensure that rising expenses do not prevent residents from undertaking the pilgrimage.
State authorities are currently developing the specifics of how government assistance will be provided to eligible Haj pilgrims in the coming days.
