Telangana to Establish Dedicated Trust for Employee Healthcare Scheme

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will establish a dedicated Employee Health Care Trust to administer the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao announced on Monday during a meeting with the Joint Staff Council and representatives of employee associations at the Secretariat.
The trust will be constituted within the coming days and will serve as the institutional framework for delivering healthcare benefits to government employees, pensioners, and their dependent family members across the state.
Ramakrishna Rao emphasised the government's commitment to ensuring accessible, quality, and hassle-free healthcare services. The proposed trust structure, he explained, would enable efficient and transparent delivery of healthcare benefits while functioning with operational autonomy.
The Chief Secretary outlined several key features of the proposed arrangement. The trust will maintain its own bank account, with both the government and employees contributing equally to the fund. Operational guidelines will be prepared after the government reviews suggestions from various employee organisations.
"The trust will function independently and make decisions in the best interests of beneficiaries," Ramakrishna Rao stated, adding that the government would examine recommendations from employee organisations before finalising the operational framework.
Representatives from multiple employee associations participated in the discussions, offering input on governance structures, financial management, service delivery mechanisms, and grievance redressal processes. The proposals were generally welcomed by the associations present.
Special Chief Secretaries Benhur Mahesh Ekka and Dana Kishore, along with senior government officials and employee organisation representatives, attended the meeting.
