Telangana Positioned as National Leader in Digital Transformation, Says State Minister

Hyderabad: The state of Telangana is establishing itself as a national benchmark for digital transformation, driven by citizen-centric governance and technology-led expansion, according to IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Speaking at the Digital Transformation Finance Summit 2026, held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India at Novotel HICC in Hyderabad on Friday, the Minister outlined the state government's strategy to enhance public service delivery through improved efficiency, transparency and accessibility.
Sridhar Babu highlighted that the global economy is undergoing a transformative digital shift, with digital ecosystems fundamentally altering how industries operate. Nations that embrace these technological changes swiftly, he noted, will shape the future economic landscape. This requires governments to develop robust technology infrastructure and cultivate skilled talent pools.
Telangana's Digital Ambitions
India has emerged as one of the world's largest digital economies, marked by significant advances in digital payment systems and public digital infrastructure, the Minister observed. Within this context, Telangana has become a pivotal contributor to India's digital advancement.
The state administration is constructing a forward-looking ecosystem centred on innovation, talent development and sustainable expansion, Sridhar Babu said. He articulated an ambitious target for Telangana to account for 10 per cent of India's GDP by 2047, supported by investments in emerging technologies and strengthened digital infrastructure.
Evolving Role in Finance
The landscape for financial professionals has shifted dramatically in recent years, according to the Minister. Chartered Accountants have transitioned from traditional roles in bookkeeping and auditing to become strategic advisors guiding corporate decision-making.
Technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Cybersecurity are generating substantial opportunities within the financial sector. Yet these same innovations present considerable risks, including cyber frauds, deepfakes, cryptocurrency scams and cybercrime activities.
Strengthening Cybersecurity Framework
Sridhar Babu called for finance professionals to broaden their scope beyond conventional audit functions, emphasising their role in cyber assurance and digital risk management. The sector must prioritise continuous skilling, upskilling and reskilling initiatives to keep pace with rapid technological evolution, he stressed.
The Minister extended an invitation to professional bodies and industry stakeholders to collaborate with the Telangana government in reinforcing the state's digital ecosystem and cybersecurity safeguards.
