Telangana's Chief Electoral Officer Directs Stricter Oversight of Voter Revision Drive

Hyderabad: The Telangana Chief Electoral Officer has underscored the need for meticulous implementation of the Special Intensive Revision programme, directing officials to maintain rigorous standards in voter verification processes across the state.
C. Sudharsan Reddy convened a review meeting on Tuesday at the BRKR Building, where he stressed the importance of ensuring all eligible voters are enrolled while simultaneously purging ineligible entries from the electoral rolls. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vasam Venkateswar Reddy and Deputy CEO (FAC) G.S. Chary were present at the session.
The meeting brought together senior officials including GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer R.V. Karnan, Medchal-Malkajgiri Collector M. Manu Choudary, and Electoral Registration Officers from various constituencies.
Sudharsan Reddy emphasized that transparency and accuracy must define every aspect of the revision process. He highlighted the critical responsibilities of Booth Level Officers, who serve as the frontline workers in voter verification efforts, and mandated that Electoral Registration Officers provide comprehensive training to these field staff members.
Continuous quality monitoring emerged as another key requirement outlined by the Chief Electoral Officer. Officials were instructed to establish oversight mechanisms to track the work of BLOs and to extend additional resources where gaps emerge, thereby accelerating the voter mapping initiative.
Special attention has been directed toward urban areas with particular challenges. The Chief Electoral Officer instructed authorities to prioritize verification in high-rise residential complexes and gated communities, while simultaneously launching awareness campaigns in urban settlements and slum areas. Enumeration forms will be available in both English and Telugu to remove language barriers in the process.
The mapping of VIP and VVIP voters also received specific attention, with the Chief Electoral Officer issuing separate directives to ensure these categories are properly documented.
To recognize outstanding field performance, Sudharsan Reddy announced the introduction of a "Best BLO Award" scheme to honour Booth Level Officers who demonstrate exceptional dedication and accuracy in their work.
