Telangana Census 2027 Self-Enumeration Phase Officially Launched

Hyderabad: The self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 commenced in Telangana on Sunday with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla formally initiating the process at Lok Bhavan. The Governor registered his own information through the online platform, marking the official start of Census of India 2027 in the State.

The self-enumeration phase began on April 26, 2026, and will remain open until May 10, 2026. Following this period, officials will undertake house-listing operations from May 11 through June 9, 2026.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Governor highlighted the Census as a crucial national undertaking that provides comprehensive insights into population demographics and socio-economic conditions. He emphasized that such data proves instrumental in enabling effective governance and strategic planning across various sectors.

Census data serves policymakers in multiple domains including education, healthcare, employment, housing, and infrastructure development, the Governor noted. Additionally, the information facilitates the design of targeted welfare initiatives and allows for measurement of national development progress.

The Governor underscored that this Census holds particular significance for Telangana as the first such exercise conducted since the State's formation. He stressed that accurate participation will contribute to more effective inclusive planning and support the creation of a well-structured Telangana and nation.

The Census 2027 self-enumeration initiative operates entirely through digital channels. Citizens can register household information via a user-friendly online interface, while house-listing activities will also be conducted digitally to maintain accuracy and ensure transparency in the process.

"I have personally completed the self-enumeration process today. It is simple and efficient. I urge all citizens of Telangana to actively participate in this important exercise and extend full cooperation to Census officials by providing accurate and clear information," the Governor stated.

Census Director Bharathi Holikeri, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, and Joint Secretary K. Shashi Kiran Chary were present at the event.
