Telangana Electoral Officer Urges Acceleration of Voter Registration Drive in Malakpet

Hyderabad's Malakpet constituency has become the focus of electoral authorities after the state's Additional Chief Electoral Officer raised concerns about lagging progress in a voter identification initiative.
Vaasam Venkateshwar Reddy convened a review session at Singireddy Srinivas Reddy Community Hall on Thursday to assess the Special Intensive Revision programme's implementation in the area. The gathering included Electoral Registration Officer M. Manga Tayaru, seven Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, supervisory-level Booth Level Officers, and various administrative staff.
At the meeting, officials received instructions to complete the cross-linking of current eligible voters from 2025 electoral records with historical data from 2002. Venkateshwar Reddy noted that the undertaking had encountered delays, particularly within urban assembly segments.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer tasked Booth Level Officers with accelerating fieldwork by visiting residences to gather voter information, setting a seven-day deadline for completion. He also urged officials to collaborate with Booth Level Agents representing multiple political parties to facilitate the process.
The mapping initiative in Malakpet had achieved only 29.17 per cent completion at the time of the review, prompting the Additional Chief Electoral Officer to direct Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to intensify their efforts. He simultaneously appealed to residents to extend their cooperation to electoral staff throughout the registration drive.
The session was attended by the Electoral Registration Officer, the deputy commissioner, the Saidabad tahsildar, assistant municipal commissioners, assistant supervisory officers for Booth Level operations, and several Booth Level Officers.
