Tata AIA Launches Shubh Health Criti, a Market-Linked Health Insurance Plan That Builds Your Medical Fund

April 27, 2026

Bangalore — Tata AIA Life Insurance has unveiled Shubh Health Criti, positioning the product as a departure from conventional life insurance by combining critical illness coverage with wealth accumulation for healthcare needs.

The plan operates as a dedicated health fund that grows through market-linked returns while simultaneously providing coverage for 60+ critical illnesses. Policyholders can withdraw funds tax-free to pay for treatment, procedures, and related expenses when facing a qualifying condition. The product locks in premiums for 30 years and includes a premium waiver benefit if the policyholder dies or becomes disabled, ensuring the fund continues to accumulate.

Unlike traditional insurance that triggers a payout only after diagnosis, Shubh Health Criti emphasizes building reserves over time. This structural approach allows individuals to have funds already in place when medical crises occur, rather than relying solely on a one-time benefit payment.

The plan integrates with Health Buddy, Tata AIA's wellness platform, which offers cancer screenings, routine health assessments, and personalised health tracking. The company positions this preventive component as central to the product's philosophy, noting that early detection of conditions such as cancer, cardiac disease, and stroke significantly improves treatment outcomes.

"Health planning has always been reactive—a safety net for when things go wrong. Shubh Health Criti flips that equation. It's a fund you build, a future you plan for and a wellness ecosystem that keeps you healthier along the way," said Jeelani Basha, Chief Business Officer, Partnership Distribution and Group Business, Tata AIA Life Insurance.

The product includes several additional features: dual life outpatient coverage for the policyholder and family members, terminal illness benefits with a term booster option, accidental total and permanent disability coverage, and accidental death benefits. Premiums paid toward Health Buddy are returned to the policyholder.

The plan is available to individuals aged 18 to 65 years on their last birthday. Detailed information regarding coverage flexibility, eligibility requirements, and wellness programme specifics is accessible through the company's website.

This launch reflects a broader trend in the insurance sector toward products that combine protection with investment growth and preventive health management, addressing consumer demand for comprehensive health solutions beyond traditional indemnity models.
