Synology Charts Five-Year Growth in India, Launches AI-Focused Storage Push

Synology Inc. has unveiled an enhanced strategy for the Indian market in 2026, with a focus on delivering AI-ready data storage and management infrastructure tailored for enterprise clients. The company highlighted that its enterprise business in India has expanded substantially over the preceding five years, with government agencies and public sector bodies emerging as primary growth drivers.
The firm's India-focused roadmap includes deployment of high-performance NVMe storage systems alongside enhanced operating-system and management functionalities for enterprise users. These offerings comprise refreshed PAS series enterprise storage solutions and the ActiveProtect data protection appliance range, both scheduled for global introduction in June 2026.
Central to Synology's approach is the integration of artificial intelligence capabilities throughout its product ecosystem. The company aims to transform unstructured data into actionable assets for AI applications, establishing the groundwork for AI-driven infrastructure pathways. This evolution redefines the conventional storage paradigm, enabling organisations to implement AI-ready systems in a manner that balances cost-efficiency with practical deployment to accelerate their AI initiatives.
Asta Liang, Country Manager – SAARC at Synology Inc., remarked that Indian enterprises require comprehensive infrastructure spanning the entire AI lifecycle, extending from edge-based data collection through central processing. "Organisations are shifting their focus from capacity metrics to data ownership and accessibility. Our commitment this year is to deliver AI-ready, secure, and straightforward infrastructure across organisations of all scales," Liang stated.
The company remains committed to bolstering system-level safeguards and enhancing backup and recovery functionalities, enabling enterprises to strengthen resilience and fortify defences against emerging threats in an AI-driven landscape.
Synology's strategy addresses a widespread challenge faced by enterprises globally as they expand AI implementations. Industry analysis referenced by the company reveals that whilst approximately 88% of organisations have incorporated AI into routine operations, merely 6% are realising tangible business outcomes. Given that roughly 90% of enterprise data exists in unstructured formats—encompassing emails, documents, imagery, video content, and logs—the movement of this data at scale remains constrained by expenses, transmission delays, and compliance requirements. Synology characterises this impediment as a "data gravity" challenge.
Across India, Synology's client base encompasses news organisations, manufacturing firms, banking entities, government offices, and public-sector enterprises.
In 2025, Synology experienced robust worldwide performance, shipping 43.8 exabytes of storage capacity throughout the year. To contextualise this volume, 43.8 exabytes could accommodate approximately 8.8 trillion photographs of 5 MB each, or match the combined storage capacity of roughly 171 million smartphones with 256 GB capacity.
The company's ActiveProtect enterprise backup appliance line, introduced in 2025, earned recognition within Gartner's Market Guide for Enterprise Backup Storage Appliances. Additionally, Synology received PCMag's Readers' Choice and Business Choice Awards for its NAS devices and IT-managed servers.
Synology develops network attached storage and IP surveillance systems designed to modernise data administration and surveillance operations in contemporary digital environments. Leveraging cutting-edge innovations, the company facilitates centralised data storage and backup, mobile file sharing, and scalable surveillance deployments through dependable and economical solutions. The organisation prioritises delivering forward-looking features and premium customer support standards.
