Swiggy Launches Builders Club to Enable External Developers in AI Commerce

April 26, 2026

Bengaluru: Swiggy, India's on-demand convenience platform, has introduced Swiggy Builders Club, a new program designed to enable developers, startups, and enterprises to construct AI-native commerce applications leveraging its platform infrastructure.

The initiative represents an expansion of Swiggy's earlier Model Context Protocol (MCP) launch, which exposed core commerce capabilities. Builders Club functions as the ecosystem layer atop that infrastructure, establishing guidelines for who participates, how they collaborate with Swiggy, what technical capabilities they contribute, and how successful integrations can evolve into broader partnerships.

Access and Capabilities

Upon launch, Builders Club will provide approved participants with access to 3 MCP servers and more than 18 API tools spanning Food, Instamart, and Dineout. This access enables builders to develop AI agents, copilots, assistants, and integrations capable of executing tangible actions—from food ordering and grocery shopping to restaurant reservations.

The program operates on AWS's enterprise infrastructure, incorporating Amazon Bedrock for unified API access to foundation models from providers including Anthropic, Meta, and Mistral AI, AWS Trainium chips designed to reduce training costs by up to 50% and enhance inference performance by 30-40%, and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a framework-agnostic service for agentic AI development.

Program Structure

Builders Club positions external developers not merely as API consumers but as contributors and early ecosystem partners. The program operates through a community-driven, partnership-focused approach with an invite-based access model targeting developers, founders, and enterprise teams prioritizing AI-first development.

A central component involves Skills—reusable capabilities that enhance how AI agents manage real-world tasks. Builders Club serves as the convergence point for MCP integrations, Real World Skills, and the forthcoming Builders Platform for external development teams.

Participation and Benefits

The program welcomes applications from developers, startups, and enterprises. Applicants undergo review, receive access upon approval, and subsequently develop and demonstrate prototypes. An invite-led approach manages quality standards and cultivates early community engagement.

Beyond API access, participants receive live endpoint connectivity with generous rate limits, dedicated engineering support, co-branding opportunities for prominent projects, growth partnership assistance for validated use cases, and opportunities to engage in the expanding ecosystem surrounding agentic commerce and platform distribution.

Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer at Swiggy, stated: "The preceding months have represented a significant evolution in Swiggy's direction. MCP allowed us to expose our commerce infrastructure to AI systems. Builders Club constitutes the subsequent decisive action—making that infrastructure accessible to developers and enterprises for constructing AI commerce applications at scale atop Swiggy. We are transitioning from platform provider to ecosystem orchestrator, establishing the foundational layer for AI-native commerce innovation. Underpinned by AWS, Amazon Bedrock, and AgentCore, this delivers enterprise-grade infrastructure to our builder community from inception."

Sandeep Dutta, President of AWS India and South Asia, remarked: "Swiggy Builders Club exemplifies the subsequent phase of AI-driven commerce, and AWS is gratified that its AI services support this developer community. By integrating Amazon Bedrock, AWS Trainium, and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, we equip builders with infrastructure for unrestricted innovation—whether they represent startups exploring novel concepts or enterprises deploying production-grade AI agents. This collaboration illustrates how transparent, adaptable AI infrastructure can catalyze innovation throughout India's technology sector."
