Hyderabad Sub-Registrar Suspended on Corruption Charges Over Unexplained Wealth

Hyderabad authorities have initiated legal proceedings against Davuluri Anand, a suspended Sub Registrar-II at the Warangal Rural Sub-Registrar Office in Hanmakonda, on charges of illicitly amassing wealth while in government service.

The case has been registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Investigators have conducted multiple rounds of unannounced inspections and searches at the officer's residence and properties belonging to his relatives, including a fresh sweep on Tuesday.

Assets Uncovered in Searches

The investigations have revealed a significant portfolio of immovable property. Authorities identified two residential houses valued at ₹71.56 lakh and six vacant plots assessed at ₹28.37 lakh. Officials noted that the actual market prices of these properties likely exceed their registered valuations.

Cash and financial holdings have also been recovered during the searches. Investigators seized ₹24.50 lakh in currency and bank deposits amounting to ₹7.05 lakh.

The searches further disclosed household furnishings valued at ₹6.07 lakh, along with personal vehicles including one automobile and two two-wheelers collectively valued at ₹13.25 lakh.

Precious Metals and Total Asset Value

Authorities recovered precious metal ornaments, including gold weighing 819.5 grams and silver weighing 2,264.5 grams, with a combined assessed value of ₹43.16 lakh.

The cumulative value of all assets identified to date stands at approximately ₹1.94 crore. Investigators have indicated that their verification process remains ongoing, with plans to locate and assess any additional holdings and establish the full scope of disproportionate assets allegedly accumulated by the suspended official.
