Shakespeare Meets The Beatles: Students Stage Bold Reimagining of Julius Caesar

A daring fusion of Renaissance drama and 1960s rock music is coming to the stage this month as students transform William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar into Hey Jules, an original musical theatre production that pairs the playwright's dialogue with melodies by The Beatles.

The production, created by students of Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, will be performed on Thursday, 25 June 2026, from 7 pm to 9 pm at St Andrews Auditorium in Bandra West. Tickets are available through District and BookMyShow.

The project takes a prescribed text from the ICSE English Literature curriculum and reimagines it as an immersive live experience. By combining Shakespeare's language with the beloved songs of The Beatles, the production creates an unconventional theatrical offering designed to resonate with multiple audiences—from fellow students and teachers to theatre enthusiasts and music fans.

Through this creative adaptation, the students examine timeless themes central to Shakespeare's tragedy: ambition, loyalty, friendship, betrayal and the corrupting nature of power.
