The opening reception for Jyoti Tyagi's solo exhibition "Stories the Soil Remembers" drew together members of the arts community, collectors, and cultural figures at Shridharani Gallery. Prayag Shukla served as curator for the show, which was formally opened by Chetan Prakash Jain. The presence of renowned artist Jatin Das and celebrated classical dancer Pratibha Prahlad lent significance to the occasion.

Tyagi's paintings demonstrate a sophisticated engagement with themes of human-nature interconnection, employing recurring visual motifs—peacocks, trees, birds, and expansive natural settings—to communicate ideas about stewardship, place, and ecological fragility. The works function as meditative spaces where viewers encounter layers of personal and collective memory.

A central preoccupation in Tyagi's artistic practice concerns the shifting dynamics between metropolitan expansion and environmental erosion. Her compositions resist conventional landscape representation, instead presenting scenarios where disparate elements negotiate coexistence. Birds occupy particularly symbolic roles within her visual vocabulary, operating simultaneously as markers of displacement and resilience while raising questions about ecological consequence without imposing interpretive closure.

The exhibition's titular series emerged from a foundational inquiry: what traces remain in the ground as structures proliferate overhead? Rather than offering prescriptive answers, these paintings construct invitations for contemplation and engagement with the concealed narratives embedded within urban development.

Tyagi's artistic development reflects both formal training and lived experience. A native of western Uttar Pradesh now based in Ghaziabad, she holds graduate credentials in Economics alongside teaching certification. Following three years in the education sector, she pursued formal artistic training through a Diploma in Fine Arts at age 41, having previously stepped back from creative practice for nearly two decades due to familial and social obligations.

Her exhibition record encompasses participation in group presentations at Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi during 2014, 2015, 2016, 2021, and 2022. Her paintings have appeared in significant national venues including the Kashi National Art Exhibition in Varanasi and All India Art Exhibitions organized by the Indian Academy of Fine Arts in Amritsar. She has received recognition from Lalit Kala Academy, Uttar Pradesh, and maintains work in private and corporate collections throughout India and internationally.

Her inaugural solo presentation, "TRANSFORMATION," took place at Lalit Kala Akademi in 2019, representing a culmination of sustained commitment and artistic maturation. The current exhibition continues her trajectory of conceptual investigation and technical refinement.

The reception provided an atmosphere conducive to engagement with both the artworks and fellow attendees, with refreshments contributing to the evening's welcoming ambiance.
