Officials Face Action if Indiramma Housing Targets Slip, Warns Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad — Telangana's IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu has issued a strong warning to state officials against complacency in executing the Indiramma Housing Scheme, making it clear the government will not accept any lapses in programme implementation.
At a review meeting convened at the State Housing Corporation office in Himayatnagar on Thursday, Sridhar Babu underscored the need for rigorous adherence to government-set targets. He stipulated that authorities must complete construction of 3,500 houses per Assembly constituency annually, with beneficiaries receiving their homes without any unnecessary delays.
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy presided over the gathering, which evaluated implementation progress across 13 Assembly constituencies in the erstwhile Karimnagar district. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Laxman Kumar, along with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior officials, participated in the deliberations.
Addressing the assembly, Sridhar Babu instructed officials to expedite resolution of grievances flagged by public representatives. He particularly highlighted the need for departments to tackle forest land clearance issues swiftly, ensuring such regulatory hurdles do not become bottlenecks for housing construction work.
The Minister called upon district collectors to leverage their discretionary authority to resolve pending land acquisition and compensation matters. He also emphasised the importance of improved coordination among different departments operating at the grassroots level.
Sridhar Babu advocated for a more compassionate administrative approach, urging officials to prioritise humanitarian considerations over procedural delays. Regular monitoring of project advancement was equally stressed as essential.
The Minister made clear that officials failing to deliver on assigned targets would face disciplinary action, reiterating the government's firm expectation that all housing projects be completed in a timely manner.
