Hyderabad: Dr. Sravan Dasoju, a Member of the Legislative Council, has raised questions about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent commendation of the Gujarat model, contending that such remarks signal a departure from Congress ideology.

In a statement released on Saturday, the MLC expressed concern that the Chief Minister's comments have sparked unease among political observers about the nature and direction of governance in Telangana. He sought clarification on whether the state was being administered through Congress values or whether it was adopting a framework linked to the BJP.

Dr. Sravan Dasoju pointed to the long-standing position of Rahul Gandhi, who has criticised the Gujarat model for over a decade. He noted that the Congress party has maintained consistent opposition to this model throughout this period, making it noteworthy that Revanth Reddy was now presenting it as central to Telangana's economic strategy.

The legislator also objected to the Chief Minister's "Bade Bhai" characterisation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that the state administration appeared to be transitioning away from a welfare-focused governance structure toward an approach centred on capital accumulation and market-driven expansion.

Demand for Financial Transparency

Dr. Sravan Dasoju has called on the Telangana Government to produce a white paper that would itemise the financial resources and assistance the state has received from the central government. He sought explicit information regarding the scale of support Telangana has obtained through the Chief Minister's engagement with New Delhi.

The MLC also posed questions about whether Telangana is charting its own developmental path or being reshaped into what he termed a "secondary Gujarat" through initiatives involving industrial corridors and physical infrastructure projects.

"The Indian National Congress must provide clarity on whether Revanth Reddy has been permitted to deviate from Rahul Gandhi's vision for development," Dr. Sravan Dasoju stated.

He concluded by noting that Telangana's electorate had voted for the Congress party with expectations of a governance model that was distinctive, emphasising welfare provisions and the state's regional character.
